Good gentles!
Following is an announcement of the Academy of the Rapier. This event originally was designed to be a fencing symposium, but has now expanded.
MUSICIANS! There will be an informal musician's cabin where you may meet, practice/jam, talk music, etc. Bring a bunch of copies of your music.
ARCHERS! There will be archery as well. Call for details.
EVERYONE ELSE! Fencing, fencing, and more fencing. Dancing, singing and revelry. Plenty of chances to volunteer to help. So send in those reservations, guys!
In service, Emilia

Come all who are strong of arm, agile of body and knowledgeable in skill! Come all who know little but wish to learn the fine art of personal combat with the Rapier in these current Middle ages! Come all who wish to converse with Don Tivar Moondragon, Society Marshall of fencing, and Don Seosamh MacDonald an Cruca O'Maille, our own Kingdom bigwig! Let us gather together for a great Academy, in which all may teach and learn together over a weekend of glorious fun, food, and fencing!
In the Barony of Carolingia, at Camp Sayre on Unquity Road in Milton, Massachusetts, 02186 an Academy of the Rapier will be held on Memorial Day Weekend of this year, May 28-31, A.S. XXVII (1993). Come join us for two and a half days of classes, tourneys, food, fun, and evening activities including (this is Carolingia) dancing.
Lodging will be provided in heated cabins that hold from 12 to 22 people; there are 6' bunks in the cabins, but bedding must be provided by the attendee. In addition, a limited number of tents will be permitted on site, but you MUST contact the autocrat in advance of the event if you intend to bring your tent. A meal plan will also be available for the entire weekend for a small fee; if your dietary needs prevent you from eating typical SCAdian fare, a refrigerator and stove-top will be available in each cabin. Solar shower stalls will be built for your use; a small number of solar shower bags will be provided by the autocrat, but she strongly suggests that you bring your own. Site opens at 7pm on May 28th and closes at 3pm on May 31. The site is DRY.
Site costs are $5 per day for the day only, $6 for day activities and overnight accommodations per 24 hour period, or $17 for the entire weekend (through Monday). Food is $7/day for the full meal plan, or $6 for lunch and dinner per day. $17 buys you 8 meals: three Saturday, three Sunday, and two Monday. Make checks payable to "SCA Inc, Barony of Carolingia."
The autocrat is Emilia Mazzo de Novella, and questions can be addressed to her. Volunteers are always welcome. Please send SASE for class schedule and additional information with your reservation. Also, please indicate in your reservation with whom you would prefer to be bunked, and whether you would prefer a coed or single-sex environment.
