Herein is the announcement to the University of Carolingia, happening SUNDAY, OCTOBER 10, during the day. That's NEXT WEEKEND (the long, Columbus day weekend).
You're all invited, and absolutely everyone you know, too.... *********************************************************************

The University of Carolingia is an open-to-the-public Educational Renn-Faire atque Fundraiser for the Boston Branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (aka the Barony of Carolingia). All are invited for a day of performances, merchants, and lectures on period academic subjects presented in persona (in a period style lecture hall!). There will be period food for sale, and children's activities as well.
It's happening on SUNDAY, October 10, 1993. This is during Oktoberfest in Harvard Square, just around the corner in Memorial Hall, a converted cathedral. Doors open at 11am, and close at 4pm. Admission is $4, $1 for children (*no*, you don't count).
Garb is not required, but is, of course, encouraged (those of us working there will be wearing garb). Live steel is prohibited. It is *extremely* T accessible from MIT, and is a pleasant 30 to 50 minute walk if the weather is fair. There will be an expedition leaving from Mitgaard, I believe.
Parents in town? Now would be a great time to bring them along so they can see for themselves what this strange Medievalist group their son/daughter joined *does* - and they'll have fun too!

Now, SCAdians are participating in this in two ways. Many are planning on attending this event just as the public will (only in garb) - for spending a pleasant day strolling the merchants, being entertained, and taking in the Lectures. But a great many are going to be working at this event, and making it happen for the several thousand people we hope will show up. You are encouraged to participate by volunteering, and helping out.
Volunteers can get in free, but must commit to being there before the event opens. Volunteers must be in garb, but if you don't have some, we'll work something out about loaning you some. You don't need feastgear.
****If you're interested in volunteering, send me email and read the next message about University. ****
Yours in service!
