Fondest greetings to you all...

Maslenitsa is this weekend, replete with diversions for those of the
martial and non-martial bent.  Below you will find a schedule of
events and a breif description of activities.  The site opens at
10:00am and closes at 9:00pm.  Anyone on-site after 9:00pm is on
cleanup.


10:30am		Armor Inspection Begins
11:00am		Tourney Begins
	We'll be holding an oxhide tourney.  The listfield is a square
	of roughly 8'X8' dimensions.  Points are given for:

	1) a fighter falls or is pushed out of the lists by his/her
	opponent
	2) being the victor of the bout
	3) defeating a more skilled opponent:
		OTC	-	two points
		chivalry-	three points
	4) chivalrous behavior, as determined by popular acclaim

 1:00pm		Blini Eating Contest
	You.  Your opponent.  The thrill of competition.  A plate of
	blini.  Need we say more?

 2:00pm		Slavic Manuscripts 101 (class)
	Genevieve de Chanteloup will trace the history and development
	of Slavic languages during the SCA period, the alphabets and
	writing styles used, and will explore some of the illumination
	techniques useful to SCA scribes seeking to recreate Slavic
	manuscripts.

 3:00pm		Decorating Pysanky [Ukranian Easter Eggs] Class
	Pysanky are the beautiful and colorful eggs that have been a
	tradition in Ukraine for more than 1000 years.  You can learn
	to make your own - and enter your beautiful creations in the
	Egg contest.

 5:15pm		Carolingian Vocal Jongleurs
	The jongleurs will be performing five traditional Russian
	liturgical pieces from the 12th through 17th centuries.

 6:00pm		Dinner is Served

After Dinner	Eastern European Folksongs
	These folksingers, accompanied by traditional and modern
	instruments, come from Northern and Eastern Europe, as well as
	Russia.

There is still limited on-board space available.  Reservations are
$3.50 for off and out-board, and $9.50 for on-board.  Please add an
additional $2.50 for the optional day board.  As it is too late to
mail checks to the reservation clerk, you may hold on-board places by
sending email to Lady Caitlin Davies (waks@world.std.com).  These
places must be padi for at the gate, and will not be held very long.
