Noble Cousin!

Well, hopefully this action by the BoD marks the dawning of a better
society. I truly hope this, and I believe that a council of elders
(something which I had not thought of before) is a good idea.
Personally, I hope that Duke Frederick of Holland and Duke Carriadoc
of the Bow will be asked to join the council of elders. (I forget
the name given in the posting of a few minutes ago.)

Looking beyond the recent action by the BoD, I do think that the recent
crises has been the result of two things:

1) Inherent problems with the constitution and polity of the society.
Hopefully, this most recent action goes a long way toward adressing
   these two things.

2) A faultering of vision about what the society is about. To this end,
I believe that the "landmarks" discussion should be given rather
high priority. The populous arose simply because recent decisions
by the BoD significantly went beyond commonly held understanding of
what the society is and what it is about. I do believe that it is
imperative that the constitution and polity of the society support
and reflect its inherent mission, nature, etc.
