Accepting responsibility is the first step.  As to finding a way out many people are working 
towards just that.  If you wish for some specific suggestions, here are some from me:

*  The SCA should become a membership organization providing members with more
   ownership and say in how our Society works.

   This will be very hard as the Board would have to approve it and actually make and
   file the legal change.  Something I 'suspect' they would resist - all three of them :),
   but I'll work for it anyway as I believe without it we will eventually wind up back here
   in the hole.

*  The Board members should be elected _directly_ by the membership.

*  The Board should be be required to give an annual 'State of the SCA address'.  Saying
   what has happened this past year and what they/we are going to try to do within the next.

*  A section in each Kingdom newsletter should be allocated for communications from the Board
   (which should be USED).  The TI is not timely enough and does not reach the larger membership 
   base of Kingdom newsletters.

*  The Board should focus on finanicial/fundraising aspects of the SCA and not on the
   historical aspects (Corpora).

*  Corpora should be governed by a separate body - A 'Grand Gemot'.  This is both an
   historic (Saxon) and democratic (democratic centralism) model.  Shire's have monthly
   meetings/moots during which a representive (and alternate) are selected to represent
   the Shire/Barony/etc. at the next Kingdom Moot (approx. 4/year).  At the Kingdom Moots
   a representive (and alternate) are selected to represent the Kingdom at the next Grand
   Gemot (Society Moot - approx 2/year [Pennsic/Estrella]?).  The Society Moot has the authority 
   to make changes to the Corpora (governing document of the Society's historical structure) with 
   'advisory' :) input from the Board.  This means that if any kingdom wants a change to Corpora it
   can state it's case at the Grand Gemot, which can accept it/reject it/table it 'till next Moot 
   (to allow for more discussion).  Each Kingdom is represented and can concentrate solely on 
   'how we want to play the game' instead of Tax audits or Insurance.  Moots also function as 
   councils - "We are having this problem, any advise on how to solve it?", etc, etc....

* Find Wat Tyler (or Jan Ziska)

These are some of the tools I believe we need utilize in order to way our way out.  Comments?
