Alex lays out liability insurance, at about 2500 per year plus 200 per
event.

That is about right. However, that doesn't begin to cover the insurance
issue.

This insurance will cover the site owner for any real property damage caused
by our event.  If the building burns, if we ruin an oak floor, or anything
like that.

Among the things the SCA provides is Officers Liability insurance, in
addition to the regular liability insurance.  This protects those people who
are acting in the SCA's name, for any damages which a court says they might
have to pay.

For example, lets say that at an SCA event, some underage person gets drunk
and smashes into another person's car with her own.  The state of MA has
found that anerage drunk is not responsible for their damages alone, the
person responsible is.  A wise attorney in this case would file against the
responsible party who ran the event.  That would be the autocrat (and
perhaps the Seneschal).  The Officer's policy protects us, too.

Insurance and liability is confusing.

I disagree with Alex about having to pay taxes on the Gross from Maslenitsa.
It would be the most trivial thing to set up a MA for profit corporation (as
he knows) and pay taxes on the net, instead.
