Salutations, All, from Morgan Cely Cain!

Within the last few weeks, you have received information that a group 
called "Committee to Save Our Society" has filed a lawsuit against the 
SCA, Inc., to obtain certain financial and similar documents.

In that same week, a lady named Janet in the West Kingdom called up one 
of the state agencies in California, and with a bit of communication 
obtained over 400 pages of corporate and financial documents, some dated 
as recently as early March of 1994.  She obtained these documents within 
a week of her initial call, and at a cost of under US$100.00.  This was 
after I had posted on several 'nets the fact that much of the 
information which CSOS claimed to seek is available publicly, if anyone 
cared to call the state agencies; that's why Janet tried.

I posted Janet's information on the 'nets, and instantly was swamped 
with demands in varying tones, all wanting to know what she obtained and 
how.  I asked for this information, and a debate ensued amongst the 
group who had helped Janet to pay for the copies of these documents.  
The consensus of the group was to not provide copies for free, since 
they had had to pay for it, but to provide everybody with the 
information by which they could obtain the information for themselves.

What follows is the context of the message I received from Janet and her 
housemate, the relevant parts in full except as to e-mail address:

	Legal Photocopy Service is one of several companies that 
	provide this service. They just happen to be the one we asked.

	Ask for all documents or all 990s, CT-2s, and the 
	documentation attached, for the Society for Creative 
	Anachronism, Inc, from "The Registry of Charitable Trust" 
	at the California Attorney General's office.

	Anyone in the entire world is free to contact any photocopy 
	service in Sacramento and request copies of the documents 
	Janet aquired.  The Attorney General's office will not make
	copies for anyone but the California legistature, but that's 
	why these photocopy services exist.  The information is public 
	and available to all.
