Subject: Heavy Combat

As Santa Morgaine has mentioned the various activities of those
gentles who take part in the fair arts of fencing in Carolingia, I
feel it only mete that I mention the heavy list practices here.

For those among you who would like to experience the thrill of heavily
armored combat in a medieval* style, please take some time out of your
schedules and drop by the back of Kresge Auditorium on MIT campus on
any clear Wednesday evening from 6:30-ish pm until 9:30-ish pm or, at
the same location, on any clear Sunday afternoon from 12:30-ish pm
until 5:00-ish pm, except Sunday, September 12, 1993 (practice is
cancelled due to economic summit at MIT on that date).

These are Carolingia's regularly scheduled Spring/Summer/Fall fighting
practices. During the winter, we will be moving to an indoor site (at
BU?) to practice these arts of war.

Usually, there are one or two people around who will loan you their
suits or various armour bits that complement what you already have so
that you may fight, but you MUST be over eighteen (18) years of age to
train in armor at a Society practice. (I think this means you can
still do the footwork and learn the shots, but you should really talk
to Earl Sir Sebastien Nightwind for verification or nullification of
this tenet.)

If any should wish further information or clearer directions, please
contact me at any of the methods described below.

*medieval is herein defined (solely for the purposes of this post) to
mean roughly approximating any of the various periods/ages that the
Society for Creative Anachronism studies, providing that the armoring
materials used and placement of same conform to the rules and
regulations of the Society...after all, it's not nice to break your
playmates...

BTW-Anything written above is solely at my own discretion and I have
absolutely no authority to speak for Mitgaard, the Barony of
Carolingia, the Kingdom of the East, the Society or much of anything
else either.
