Sigh.  Major sigh.

What with all the talk about waivers and things, the February 5th event is
going to be different from most other Carolingian events: we are going to be
requiring people to sign the old waiver at the door. Corpora has always
required that people sign waivers at events with combat-activities:
(Governing and Policy Decision 13, section 4) but at last we are going to do
it.

I am appending a copy of the waiver to this letter. If you come to the event
with the waiver already filled out, checking in will be much faster. If you
have a yellow or blue membership card, you do not need to sign the waiver.

Please note two things. People who are bringing minor children must have a
waiver signed by the parent or legal guardian. If you are that parent or
legal guardian, don't worry. If you are bringing an underage sibling or
friend you must have their parents sign in advance.  In the latter case,
additionly, there must also be a form filled out by the parents which shows
that the child is present with their permission, and that you have permission
to approve medical treatment if needed. This document is "under construction",
and will be made available by request.

None of this has anything to do with the waiver requirements for combat.
These are requirements for attendance. I'm not crazy about it either. If you
want to argue with me, or ask for rationale, or give me grief, please do so
via private email, as Carolingia doesn't need the mail volume.  Please pass
the word to folks who are not net connected.

of Carolingia, February 5th, 1994, at the Cambridge National Guard Armory,
Cambridge MA.

I, _________________ (print legal name), having read and understood this
document, freely consent to its provisions.

I am fully aware of the nature and purpose of the activities of the SCA. I
acknowledge that these activities are potentially dangerous, and I
voluntarily accept any risks involved. In consideration of my being
permitted to take part in these activities, I agree to be bound by the rules
of the SCA, and to obey the directions of the governing officials. Should
any disputes arise from my participation in these activities, I agree to
submit such disputes to a board of arbitration and to abide by the decisions
reached by such a board. I agree to release, hold harmless, and keep
indemnified by the SCA and all its representatives from and against all
claims, actions, expenses and demands in respect to death, injury, loss or
damage to my person or property, howsoever caused, arising in connection
with my participation even if the same may have been contributed to or
occasioned by the negligence of said body or any of its representatives.
This waiver is to be binding on myself, my heirs, executors and assigns.
