Hmm, I wrote up a long missive, and lost it. Here I try again...

The day was cloudy cold and threatening as we arrived on site, but
as His Majesty told us when he spoke to the Crown Entrants, "It is
a Beautiful Day". It was too, with many fighters (60, the second
largest Crown List in our history) competing for the honor of
inherting the Eastern Throne. All proceeded smoothly, and there
were many wonderful bouts to see. Eventually (with the elimination
of Sir Thorgeirr at the quarter final level, the semi-finals were
fought:

Viscount Master Lucan von Drachenklaue defeated Andreas von Eisfalke
Duke Sir Morguhn Sheridan defeated Count Sir Rhys of Harlech

(both defeated fighters entered the semi-finals with one defeat
   from the earlier bouts).

The finals were to be best of five. In the first round, polearm,
Lucan defeated Morghun. During this round, Morghun lost his footing,
and took a very nasty seeming fall. The second round was two weapon, and
after refighting the bout once, Lucan was victorious.

The third round was sword and shield. After many exchanges of blows,
Morghun called a hold, and spoke with his lady. After long, and
serious consultation with his lady and their Majesties (and others),
Morghun felt that he should yield to Lucan, as "the next blow would
kill him". It was obviously a painful decision for Morghun, and
their majesties, but much applauded for the chivalrous act it was.
It was clearly a difficult decision.

Viscount Master Lucan was crowned Prince of the East, on the spot. He
crowned Jana his queen. I doubt it was meant to be heard, but
he whispered to her "I won this for you four years ago: this time
we'll keep it".

The rain held off until after we all had cleared the field, and
retired to the hall.

	Tibor
