The event on Sat October 30th is Crown Tourney.  I don't have all the
relevant data on hand, but I'll be happy to organize a trip.  I was
the one who offered to bring an appropriately address envelop to the
next Mitgaard mtg, and everyone can put their checks in it.

Some details for the newer folx:

If you want to go, there will be rides.  Make a reservation.  If you
wait for a ride to be verified before you make a reservation, you
won't be able to get a seat at the feast, because they will be sold
out.  The reason it will be sold out will be because few drivers will
verify before they've gotten confirmation of their reservation that
they are indeed taking people.  Which usually happens after it's sold
out.  Worry about mailing the check first, then worry about rides.  If
you cancel at all in advance you can usually get your money back.

A Crown Tourney is a Big Deal (tm).  This is to be expected, as it is
the Tourney at which all entrant couples vie to be Crowned heirs to
the Thrones of the East.  (Nota Bene: Yes, you are in the Kingdom of
the East, thus, yes, this will be your King and Queen.)  

In addition to the Tourney to watch (and for some Mitgaardi, to
participate in), there will be a feast and lots of entertainers (at
least, that's the game plan).  There will probably be merchants (bring
spare money :).  There will probably be Royal Court.  Of course, if
you want to be a little more active - volunteer.  People will be
needed to cook and run the lists and herald and lots of other jobs.

The cost will probably be around $12, and no higher than $15.  This
includes the feast (may also include lunch - I'll check) and all the
day's and evening's activities.  If you have dietary restrictions and
need to bring your own food, it will be cheaper.  If you are planning
on leaving before the feast, it will be cheaper still.  (It goes
further down if you ae under 12 years old :).  I'll post when I know
the details.

What you need to go: 

(1) a reservation is nice - it vastly improves you chances of getting
into the feast.  Vastly.  Yes, you do want to go to the Feast.

(2) some attempt at medieval or rennaisance clothing (aka Garb) -
Morgaine is having a class on this next week, and leading a trip to
the fabric stores that weekend.  Go.  The canny can garb themselves
for less than $10.  I managed something on ~$5 and what was already in
my closet for my first event (and I payed much too much for that cloth
at that!)  [YO, YOU LEADER-TYPES: So who's holding the sewfest?]

(3) feast gear - the feast doesn't come with plates and dishes.  We
have loaner stuff, or you can hit the Goodwill store on Mass. Ave., a
block or so north of Random Hall.  You'll need: a bowl, something to
drink out of (another bowl, or a cup, etc.), a knife, a spoon, a
plastic bag to put your dirty dishes in.  Nice additions: a plate, a
napkin, a two- or three- tined fork, a basket to hold it all in,
candles.  They may or may not let us have open flames (I'll check); if
they don't the candles must be in some kind of lantern or chimney
(glass enclosure).  

I hope this is somewhat helpful.  If you have questions, send them to
me or to the list (this should raise some questions, really.)  One
last word: Go!  It'll be fun!
