WHAT: Crown Tourney

HOW: If you want to go, we'll find you a ride.

HOW MUCH: $13, includes lunch and feast.  Goes up $3 on Oct. 15th.

ALSO: If you want a reservation, bring your check - made out to "SCA,
Inc. - Barony of the Bridge", for the appropriate amount - to the
Mitgaard Meeting.  I will put them in an envelope and mail them off
that day or the next.  To send in a reservation yourself, read the
instructions below.  Likewise for any other questions.

LONG FORM - the Full Official Event Annoucnement:

                        CROWN TOURNAMENT


   The Barony of the Bridge invites you to the fall Crown Tournament of
the East Kingdom, to be held on Saturday, October 30, a.s. xxviii (1993).
The site (loaned to us for the occasion by our neighbors in the Shire of
Smoking Rocks) is Francis Farm, County Street, Rehoboth, Massachusetts.
In addition to the Tournament, we plan a merchants' faire, a tavern, an
arts and sciences exhibition, and diverse entertainment.
   The site opens at 10 am and closes at 10 pm. During the day, the main
hall will be available for display of arts and sciences and for
performances by jugglers, musicians, mummers, and fools (among others).
Children's entertainers are particularly welcome. Those wishing to
perform are asked to contact the Autocrat (see below) to arrange a
schedule. Merchants will be set up in a covered pavilion-type area
attached to the rear of the main hall.
   The "tavern" will also be open, in a separate building. There, we will
serve a lunch of stew, bread, and fruit to all those pre-reserved for
on- or off-board. There will also be a cash bar, featuring beer and mead
or wine. Soft drinks will be provided, courtesy of the Barony of the
Bridge. Please do not bring any alcohol or soft drinks on site  (as part
of our agreement with the management)!
   The feast, prepared by Mistress Elspeth Keyfe of Neddingham, will be a
hearty single remove. On-board space is limited to 200. There is room for
an additional 100 off-board in the main hall. The feast will include
vegetarian-friendly dishes; persons with dietary restrictions should
contact Mistress Elspeth (Beth Needham, 33 Harding Avenue, East
Providence, RI 02914; 401 433-1446) for information about ingredients.
   If you would like to merchant, please contact Lady Siobhan McGeough

accepted for guaranteed table space.
   If you need overnight accommodations for Friday or Saturday night,
you should so indicate with your reservation. There is some crash space
available, or we will arrange for your reservation in a hotel near the
site.
   The Costs: for site fee/day-trippers only, the fee will be $3. Off-
board (includes main hall seating, and lunch) is $6. On-board, including
feast and lunch, is $13. On- and off-board will increase by $3 on
October 15th. Children 10 and under are free; please indicate how many
children you are reserving for so that we may plan for them  (else they
won't have space for lunch or feast!).
   All reservations/questions/etc. should be addressed to the Autocrat,
Baroness Caitlin o hAodha (Kathleen H. Griffin, 15 LeValley Street, West
Warwick, RI 02893; 401 823-3765 before 11 pm, please). Make checks
payable to "SCA, Inc.-Barony of the Bridge" and indicate mundane and SCA
names for all those for whom you are reserving.

Directions: From I-95 North or South in Providence, take I-195 East.
Follow I-195 east to Rhode Island exit 4-Taunton Avenue (Rt. 44). The
exit ramp forks; bear left to Route 44. Follow Rt. 44 East about 7 miles,
passing through the towns of East Providence, RI and Seekonk, MA, and
into Rehoboth. At Bay State Road, turn right. This turn is marked by a
large fish-shaped sign for Francis Farm; SCA signs will be posted. When
you reach a fork in the road, bear right onto County Street. Continue on
County Street to the entrance to Francis Farm, a right-hand turn marked
by a white clam-shaped sign.
