Subject: Re: Birka

Fondest greetings to you all;

Master Justin du Couer demonstrates, once again, why he is a peer of
this realm when he writes:

	>Time to be just a shade politically incorrect, and talk about
	>something that doesn't often get talked about in public:
	>Carolingia's attitude towards Birka.

I cannot help but add my voice to Justin's. I was not at the first
Birka, but I have been to the past three -- feasts and all -- and they
have gotten notably better in all aspects. This new site made things
much beeter than they had been in the past. It eliminated the mad
rush before the feast; merchants breakdown, set up for court,
breakdown from court, set up for dinner.

I also feel that the feasts have been under-rated. This one featured
several delicious dishes - I was particulary partial to the pickled
eggs (which surprised me) and the spinach salad with warm dressing. I
only wish it had been served earlier in the meal.

The pacing was relaxed, but not slow, and the servers were very
attentive. The extra time between courses gave me (and many of my
dining companions) to get up a socialize...and walk off some of the
meal.

If Birka continues in the direction it is going, I think it will
become one of the more looked-forward-to events of the year.

I remain,
	your obedient servant...and angel,
