Subject: Archery schola - correct dates etc

Unto the goodly gentles of Carolingia doth Lord Ailean Mac an Daroch send
Greetings - and especially unto the Weirsheep, those most renowned and
esteemed fighters of the north, and unto Sir Thorgeirr who we hold dear in
our heart, and unto Krakken who holds Daryl ...well you get the idea...
Our Crown Prince, Lucan, has asked for some changes in the Archery Schola
and they be too late to get into Pikestaff, so I am sending them on to you
for distribution. This is the Last, correct and final version!
Bowman's Rest

2nd Annual Archery Schola
THIS IS AN ROYAL PROGRESS!

The Archers of the Known World will gather at Rivendell in Bowman's Rest
(Harwinton, CT) on the weekend of May 28 to 30th (Memorial Day Weekend) for
the 2nd annual Archery Schola. Classes Saturday, War Camp on Sunday, free
shooting and fighting on Monday!
The site will open at 5p.m. on Friday and close at 5 p.m. Monday.
Saturday activities will include (you guessed it) archery in all shapes and
forms, classes in shooting from newbie through expert levels, handbows,
crossbows and a few things we're not sure what to call them! More classes
in making and caring for archery gear, arrows, and fighting led by Earl
Marshal Bjorn Karlson. A feast will be served on Saturday eve after Royal
Court. There will also be a workshop in archery related songs, filks and
poetry- so bring your songs and stories!
Archers and fighters will practice the arts of war on Sunday as we prepare
for Pennsic (and other skirmishes), and an A&S competition (archery related
items preferred). Sunday eve will see a bardic circle and a wonderous
prize for the best song or poem about archery (medieval or SCAdian).
Monday will be time for open ranges, novelty shoots, more fighting and FUN!

Cost for the event is $7 off board and $10 on board. Make checks payable
to "SCA Inc. - Canton of Bowman's Rest" c/o the Autocrat, Ailean Mac an
Daroch - Allen Pitts at 43 Mill Street, New Britain, CT 06051.
(203-223-2146) The only reservation is a paid and received reservation. No
refunds unless notified 24 hours in advance of event. There's plenty of
camping space, but water will be from a hose and electricity hasn't been
invented yet. The site is discreetly damp but drunks will be evicted.
Motels are 5 miles away - ask for directions with your reservations if you
need them. Merchants welcomed - no extra fee but bring your own tables.
Once again Lady Deirdre will hold her swap meet in which you can bring any
and all of your semi-used archery and SCA articles and trade them for other
people's stuff.
Instructors and marshalls are always needed - and greatly appreciated! If
you can help, call the autocrat.

DIRECTIONS from the EAST:
From I-84 take exit 39 (Farmington) and follow Rte 4 west all the way to
Harwinton. Rivendell is on Rte 4, the 2nd driveway on the left after the
intersection with Rte 72. (Warning: this is just after a blind curve so be careful!)

DIERCTIONS from the WEST:
From I-84 take Rte 8 north at Waterbury. Take exit 42 (Harwinton). Turn
right off of exit onto Rte 118 East which will merge with Rte 4 east.
Rivendell is about 4.4 miles from Rte 8 on your right.

Please distribute the corrections as you may. If there are any questions
(or better yet, offers to help) write me at ukva94b@prodigy.com
Thank you.
