The numbers that Yevsha quated (2500 per year, plus 200 per event) seem
a little bit high to me. I wonder if we couldn't get it a lot cheaper
somewhere else.

What makes it seem too high to me is that our current insurence is
costing us somewhere around $1.35 per person per year. This is a
total near $30,000. If the entire SCA were insured using our esteemed
collegue's quote, that would mean we were holding somewhere around
140 events per year, yet a quick glance at the pikestaff calendar
tells you that the kingdom of the east holds more events than that.

Is it possible that there is a five or ten to one economy of scale
with the insurence industry? I doubt it very much, but if it is true,
this is the first strong argument I have seen against decentralizing.

Well anyway, down with pay-to-play, impeach the bastards, and all that,
I remain Anton of Winteroak, your humble servant, and runner-up in the
bleini eating contest.
