Justin, you grossly missunderstand.  Indeed this would determine
support...

...for the *polling*, not the Principality!

They (R&K) wanted to determine whether or not someone(s) cared whether
or not they pursued the issue.  Passing the helm for the polling
doesn't determine whether or not people think there should be a
Principality, only whether or not enough people care to pay for a
poll!

It would also mean that those people who care most about getting the
polling done will shoulder the burden of the cost.  If the only people
who care are Stonemarchans, and they are wing to pay for the poll,
then far be it for me to thwart them spending their money this way!
