In the last convulsion of principality-discussion that I remember before I
left, I heard a heartfelt reason from I-don't-remember-who regarding why
they were in support of the principality movement, despite its flaws.

 "If we don't go principality, everyone else will, and then they'll go
kingdom, and we'll be the only ones left. We must beat them to it."

Although this sentiment is self-interested in the extreme, it does suggest
a solution for those who A: love the East and its traditions B: don't feel
cohesive enough with any other group to get in the principality bed with
them, or C: wish the issue would go away.
