My Lord Gareth (and everyone on the mailing list):

First, apologies for the tone of my Birka posting. I have undoubtedly
hurt people's feelings, and for that I am sorry. My experience at Birka
was less than positive, but -- you are correct -- that hardly excuses
the choices I made in expressing that dissatisfaction. Partly, I was egged
on by the overwhelmingly positive notes and felt a desire to add the voices
of many of the others of us who attended.

Second, and tangentially, it strikes me as odd that "Hey, Great event!" isn't
seen as non-constructive. It's couched the same way as, "Hey, the event
sucked." It's just that one is easier to hear... [Before people leap on
me for this too, I'll state now that I know the reasons why, it's just that
the dichotomy is striking me as strange right now, in the same way that,
occasionally, a word will seem as though you've never seen it before.]

  Penitentially,
  -Iain
