             Interkingdom Archery Competitions

The sixteenth and seventh annual shootings of the
Interkingdom Archery Competition and the Interkingdom
Combat Archery Competitions will start April 1 and end
on a NEW DATE DEC. 1.

There has been some question if one piece flexible
finger type arrow rests are allowed by the rules in the
competitions. The answer is that they are allowed.

Those archers shooting crossbow in the IKAC must
make sure that their score sheet includes: the style of
crossbow, period or modern and the number of arrows shot
in each speed end.

There is a possible change being considered for
next years IKAC. This is the changing of the
Traditional Longbow division to a Traditional division,
similar to the Cheshire Challenge. It would be open to
longbows and recurves of any material and period style
crossbows. There would be no weight limit. The only
arrow rests allowed would be the shelf, hand or an
attached rest of period style and of period materials.
No sighting marks would be allowed. Crossbows would be
allowed only a rear sight. Plastic arrow nocks would be
allowed for the first year only as would non period
nocking points of metal. The target face for the
Traditional division might be changed to a N.F.A.A. 24
inch black hunter spot target, which is closer in
appearance to some of the period targets.

In the second year, only self arrow nocks or those
reinforced with period materials would be allowed. In
following years restrictions might be made on bow types
and materials allowed. This would only be done after
soliciting opinions and with a seasons warning.

Those that do not wish to shoot in the new
Traditional division will still be able to shoot in the
Open or Crossbow divisions.

I will be posting IK scores at the end of each
month on the Rialto on Internet. You may send letters
or submit scores to me by Email.

In order to encourage the construction of more
period equipment, I am trying to locate sources of
medieval European style arrowheads: bodkins, broadheads,
target points, etc. I wish to compile a list of such
suppliers for distribution. If you know of any sources
please let me know.

For copies of the IKAC or IKCAC rules, contact your
kingdom archery officer. Or send a S.A.S.E.(legal size)
with 29 cents postage for the IKAC rules or 52 cents for
both to the Keeper of the IKAC and IKCAC: Sir Jon Fitz-
Rauf, c/o John R. Edgerton, 7662 Wells Ave., Newark, CA.
94560-3530. (510) 791-9070. Email: Genie (T.EDGERTON),
