Meeting called to order at: 7:22 PM

Contact
Harald Longfellow if you are interested.
Golden Gryphon Tibor of Rock Valley: I have to cancel the heraldic commenting
session set
for February 9th. It is rescheduled for Tuesday February 22 at my house.
Knight Marshall Sebastian Nightwind: There was one fighting event 2 days ago.
I
appreciate all who were there and participated.
Chronicler Alexander of Kiev: Hi.
Mistress of Lists Torogene Kazakh:: Hi, there was a tournament on Saturday. I
trained a
mistress of lists. If you are interested in training to be a mistress of lists
(but not
necessarily taking over her job as Carolingian Mistress of Lists) please
contact me.
Mistress of Fencing Lists Guendalina Francesca di Antonio Cristiano: Hi, there
was a
fencing tournament on Saturday; there were 26 fencers who participated.
Historian-Librarian Caitlin Davies: People have been giving me newsletters.
This is
good.
Secretary Guendalina Francesca di Antonio Cristiano:: Hi.
Magister Stefan Skywatcher: We have new people. Many did not stay for court on
Saturday,
so they were not introduced to the barony. In the report from the kingdom, I
was named
Deputy Chatelaine for Central Region.
Hot line Taran of Windy Hill:: We still has a telephone; we have mail. I want
to dispel
the myths that Carolingia is not a kingdom, Justin is not a duke, Patri is not
Emperor,
Kobayashi is not Executive Director and Tibor is not Seneschal.
Dance Roselyne Sarah L'estrangere and Daniel of Falling Rocks: There is a
question as to
whether there will be dance practice this week. If you normally attend and
will not be
able to attend this week, please talk to us.
Steward-Hospitaller Sebastian Nightwind:
_Any one who is certified and would like to help Arianwen out should contact
her.
_ Is there any interest in a CPR class for the barony [ there is overall
general

                                         Guilds:
Jongleurs Tibicen Blackmane: We sang and played at the event. Whether or not
we will
play at dance practice will depend on whether dance practice is happening. We
will sing
at Maslenitsa. If you want live music for dancing at your event, please talk
to me, and
not just the Dance master/mistress.
Worshipful Company of Brewers and Vinters Morgaine ferch Cadwr: Next meeting

February 26th at my house. It will be on Basic Mead brewing. They will

for help and
lessons in carving.

staying on
as Lieutenant for a while, and then taking a must deserved respite. If you are

Mayday. Since
this is our first attempt at autocratting, if we haven't gotten ahold of you

non-profit organization -- just kidding.
                                   Autocrats of Events:
Winter Frolic Tibor of Rock Valley: I have not had a chance to do the report.
I believe we
made approximately $180 because we did not have to pay the $100 cleaning fee,
and some
people did not show up. The armory can't wait until the next time.
Maslenitsa Aleksandr Yevsha: We had to change sites because the Boston City
Board of
Education proved to be too much to handle. The new site is in Waltham, the
Kennedy Middle
School. It is the same site as the St. George's day event. I am trying to talk
to the
Janitor about turning the showers on so that the fighters can take showers. I
have some
reservations but not many. I need to know soon because we're going to have a
suckling pig
as part of the feast and we have to have a better count on the numbers to know
what size
to have. I am looking for a marshall and MOL for the heavy list tournament.
Feast of St. George Christian von Jauregk: Things proceed apace. The event is
April
23rd. Guendalina is taking reservations. I know there are a lot of events
going on that
day, but ignore the other announcements and come to my event.
Mayday Bess of Fenmere and Isolde of Estrilla : It is on May 1, 10 AM - 10 PM
on Chapel's
field at Brandeis.
_Anton: I hope for the sake of the barony that they find a less potent green
man this
year.
Ladies' Champion Tournament
_Marion of Edwinstowe: - We are still looking for a site. There will be no
reservations
since this will be a free event.
Eowyn Eilonwy of Alewife Brook: : The date is June 18.
                                      Other reports:
Baron and Baroness Patri du Chat Gris and Barbara Viggiani Milanese: Hi.
Company of Bowmen Peter the Red: Taran: The next meeting is a Fletching
workshop on
February 17th at Li Kung-Lo's house at 6:30 PM.
Academy of Rapier Patri du Chat Gris: Meetings will shift to Tuesdays with
the first
meeting being February 15th. People who attend that meeting will decide which
Tuesdays
the group will meet thereafter.
Treasurer Rowan Kalkin: We have $4,145 in uncommitted funds and $3,639
available.

Seneschal Kobayashi Yataka: I think that there is a lot of furor over the
Board's ruling.
I have a feeling that my views could become difficult to separate from the
Barony's.
There are various schools of thought on this issue:
1. The decision may or may not be procedurally valid
2. The decision may or may not be in step with the values of the Society
3. The decision may or may not endanger the Society's status as a non profit
education
institution.
4. Even people who agree with some of the decisions may be finding it hard to
support the
decision.
I think there are 4 main reasons people are objecting:
1. to the policy itself
2. to the way the policy was implemented
3. to what this policy might indicate for the future direction of the Society
4. on the general priciple that there is nothing you can do.
Whatever ways you might go about voicing your objection, everyone should write
letters to
the Royalty and the Board. One of the best defenses they have used in the past
to let
issues slip by is that although the objectors are sincere, they are in the
minority.. It
is the job of the people to let them know. It is possible that Carolingia is
in the
minority, but the only way to get information is if people tell the Board how
they feel.
The Barony will underwrite the cost of postage for letters to the Board,
Corporate Office,
King, Queen, Kingdom Senschal. Give letters to Eowyn. It is good to send
individual
letters rather than form letters because individual letters will need to be
looked at and
thought over individually.
The petition for impeachment is also a good thing. If nothing gets
changed, then
at some point in the future (assuming there is enough signatures), the Board
will have to
act on this letter of impeachment. This only means that they will have a vote
on their
removal. This will only be effective if the Board wants to change. If they
don't then
it will be each members own decision to make on how to proceed.
There has been a suggestion made on the net that people wear black
armbands if you
feel some action should be made against the Board. This is a way to gauge how
widespread
sentiment against the decision is. The Board likes quantifiable numbers, and
this is a
way to quantify sentiment (It is also suggested that any color armband is
acceptable to
make the statement).
Basically, my position is to write letters, bide, talk to anyone, and
hope the
Board wakes up and sees what a mess it has made come April, and hope for the
best.

It was noted that what should be dropped off to Eowyn is letters in envelopes,
addressed
to the appropriate people. She will not be photocopying and making envelopes
for letters.
It was also noted that it would be good to cc: to the Kingdom Seneschal since
they have as
much power as the Royalty to impeach. Also, both paid and non paid members
should write
explaining how this decision will affect their activity in the SCA. April
Council meeting
will be the cutoff for for giving Eowyn letters, however sooner would be
better.
Eowyn will be accepting letters:
Great Council: March and April
Vocal Jongleurs Practice: Through March
BoD Response meetings; February 9, February 24
Start of Dance Practice: Through March
Pikestaff Party: Februay 17
                                       Old Business

be dropped.

                                       New Business
Emilia Mazzo de Novella
King and Queen had a meeting with the Kingdom officers last weekend. They felt
it was
useful to write to the King and Queen and Seneshal. The King also urges people
to write
to the Board. He does not fully support impeachment. He encourages people to
write
letters.
