You could always sing out-of-copyright period pieces, and pieces for
which the owner has given permission. We had the same problem with
dance music, and I solved it by creating a collection of
freely-copyable, freely-performable-within-the-SCA dance music.

No one advocated coming down on anyone. I was just explaining what the
