Item Description:

A RARE FIND! EXQUISITE EXECUTION - AUTHENTIC Renaissance Elizabethan Lute 7 course
(13 string) - This is a wonderful lute made by G. Oschwald. The workmanship is
superb as is the finish. This instrument is handmade made in the tradition of the
16th Century. The lute plays very well and sounds as beautiful as it looks.
The back, neck and pegbox are made of the finest matched Flamed Maple,
The fingerboard is rosewood, the pegs appear to be of plum, and the top of a type
of Swiss red pine, or a kind of redwood. The rosette is carved directly into the top.
The bridge is carefully detailed. All the joints are beautifully fit together.
The violin/lute oil varnish is just superb in color and finish. This lute is made
the way a real authentic lute of the Renaissance should be made. It's dimensions
are as follows: 63.5 cm long (25"), 30.5 cm wide (12"), scale or speaking length of
the strings is 52 cm (20.5") and is very light, it weighs just 555 grams
(1 pound, 3.5 oz). It is a 7 course 13 stringed instrument for "g" or "a" tuning,
right for playing Dowland and others in original pitch. This lute has a very good
and fast action and needs nothing. It has been very well cared for and there are
no cracks or damage or problems of any kind with this instrument. It is in
super playing condition. It comes with a custom made, foam lined case with
room inside for your music. (the case alone cost $500.00 - for this custom made case).
The case with instrument weighs 6.65 kgs. or less than 10 lbs., so it will be
quite easy to carry on a aircraft when traveling. If you want an authentic lute,
this is it. It would cost $4000.00 to $5,000.00 (or more) to have a lute of this
quality made today. Few makers could do such fantastic work and apply varnish
so beautifully. Check/Money Order OK. Checks take up to 10 days to clear.
I have a modest reserve to protect investment. Don't hesitate to email your
questions. Winner pays shipping by air at actual cost including insurance.
THANK YOU FOR VIEWING & GOOD LUCK BIDDING.
