When he seems to have that mostly in hand, Flora looks around the room, taking in all the faces, and says, "None of you seem to be Random. Where is he?" Martin answers with a slight shrug, "He was in the middle of something, so he sent me. He'll be along when he can. Your message didn't say why you wanted him." Flora looks displeased, and considers that for a moment. Caine smiles and says, "You could take the opportunity to introduce us -- pity I don't have any cigars on me." Flora starts to make a withering reply, when suddenly there's a loud crash. You turn your head towards the sound to see that the girl has produced a knife from somewhere and is heading towards the door. Cedric and a chair are both on the floor looking stunned. Gerard appears to have had his back to her when she made her move and is just coming around. Doing anything? In the library you find Martin and Caine arguing on one end and a girl with light brown hair in a prince valiant cut pulling a dark haired girl through a trump connection. A number of people arrive through both doors and trumps, until Vialle, Fiona, Flora, Gerard, and couple more people you don't recognise, including a red headed girl and a short man with reddish brown hair are all in the room. There is definate air of tension. Martin is talking on trump. Fiona says something to Vialle and leaves with a flourish. Vialle leaves with Gerard and Caine follows. Flora shakes her head and then says something to the redheaded girl which surprises her and the short man both and irritates or perhaps embarasses the dark haired girl. Flora looks slightly surprised and leaves with a head shake. Then scene fades with a palpable air of awkwardness. No one has noticed your presence throughout this scene. You three head to the front hall on the way you pass what looks like Morley, but dressed in a very pretty fitted dress made of some sort of brocade and sleeveless. She looks vaguely irritated. Once there, you see two handsome slightly arabic looking men, walking through talking excitedly. One is dressed all in tawny silks, the other wears red and gold and carries a saber. They look like enough to each other to be brothers. They cross the length of the hall and fade away as the reach a doorway on the other side. Elena pulls out the trump of the red haired girl she got from the library and fingers it. A tall thin girl of about sixteen with emerald green eyes and chestnut brown hair comes walking in the front door looking very pleased with herself. She seems to catch sight of someone behind you and runs as if to meet them. Turning around you are rather surprised to see what looks like a somewhat younger Benedict, smiling. The scene fades away as the girl reaches where Benedict is standing. We ride out of Amber and pass through the Forest Arden. After a while, the road we've been following takes a sharp curve around some evergreens. Past the curve, the trees are much bigger than they were. Soon, the trees create a canopy over the road, which is looking less and less used. We come to an opening in the trees and the sky now definitely has a purplish glow to it. The sun is smaller too. You can vaguely see two moons still low in the sky. As we continue on around a bend, a cold breeze starts blowing and a few snow flakes fall. For the next hour or so, snow is falling at a light rate and the sky is overcast. The road that we have been following now seems to have two smaller paths instead of the original big road. We come to a river and pass through a covered bridge. On the other side of the bridge, the snow has stopped and the sky is less cloudy. The color of the sky is now a light blue. It's getting on towards evening. The paths turn into a gravel road. We hear a slight roar off in the distance, seeming to come from all around, but can be pinpointed to somewhere in the sky. A large cloud passes overhead and when it has passed, there are very straight, very narrow clouds in the sky. "Flying machines made those." Another curve and the road comes to an intersection with another road, this one made of a black material with some painted yellow and white lines. "Asphalt isn't good for the horses hooves. Stay off to the side, and try not to let any cars scare them." As I say this, we can hear a motor-like noise coming from in front of us. A red automobile speeds by in the opposite direction. "It's only a few minutes from here." The trees give way marginally and we begin to see a house here and there. Finally, I turn off the road and head towards a particular house. It's not the Avalon of old, nor Benedict's Avalon, but rather the shadow where his Pattern now lies, the original Avalon having been destroyed, and Benedict's not being his to 'invade.' It's several days of shadowwalking to get there, as it's fairly far from Amber. He'll tell you most of the story from of the first five Amber books along the way, and ask you a little about growing up with Deirdre. When you arrive in Avalon, the shadow is a little like a fairy tale kingdom. The grass is very green, the sky very blue, and the castles very white. Corwin's pattern lies in a grassy valley and the castle he takes you to looks down on it. The servants and knights all recognise Corwin as King of Avalon, but there seems to be a Chancellor who's been running things while he was a away. There's a warm reception for the both of you, though you catch a brief hint of tension in some of Corwin's advisors and Corwin says at one point the day after you arrive that he needs to confer with his advisors about matters of state and ask a young knight--- Sir Gaheris--- to show you around. He's young, reasonably good looking, and charming in that sort sort of awkward boyish way. He'll take you out riding or hawking. You can reasonably easily get him to tell you what has people worried. Apparently there have been an usual number of earthquakes and storms lately, as well as out and out disappearances. Communication has ceased with some of the outlying provinces and messengers sent out have not yet returned. There has not been substantial damage to Avalon (the area immediately around the castle), but people are becoming concerned. [Okay, I'll take a break to let you input actions if you have any. Corwin had invited Elena to come with him to visit Avalon. It's not the Avalon of old, nor Benedict's Avalon, but rather the shadow where his Pattern now lies, the original Avalon having been destroyed, and Benedict's not being his to 'invade.' It's several days of shadowwalking to get there, as it's fairly far from Amber. He'll tell you most of the story from of the first five Amber books along the way, and ask you a little about growing up with Deirdre. When you arrive in Avalon, the shadow is a little like a fairy tale kingdom. The grass is very green, the sky very blue, and the castles very white. Corwin's pattern lies in a grassy valley and the castle he takes you to looks down on it. The servants and knights all recognise Corwin as King of Avalon, but there seems to be a Chancellor who's been running things while he was a away. There's a warm reception for the both of you, though you catch a brief hint of tension in some of Corwin's advisors and Corwin says at one point the day after you arrive that he needs to confer with his advisors about matters of state and ask a young knight--- Sir Gaheris--- to show you around. He's young, reasonably good looking, and charming in that sort sort of awkward boyish way. He'll take you out riding or hawking. You can reasonably easily get him to tell you what has people worried. Apparently there have been an usual number of earthquakes and storms lately, as well as out and out disappearances. Communication has ceased with some of the outlying provinces and messengers sent out have not yet returned. There has not been substantial damage to Avalon (the area immediately around the castle), but people are becoming concerned. [Okay, I'll take a break to let you input actions if you have any. Gaheris turns out to have a sword on and you manage to use that and your strength to raise the horse enough for Gaheris to drag himself out. His leg is in bad shape though, and he won't be able to walk. He's clearly in a lot of pain, but he's putting on a good face. You're not sure the shaking hasn't started to get worse.
