Flora comes out and sees you standing outside the door. (It's been
about 15 minutes.) "Jasmine, dear, I thought you were going to go dress
for dinner. You don't want to be late. We'll speak privately after
dinner, or perhaps in the morning?"

"Yes, Mom," I say. "However, I want to talk with you about Morley. As
well as when will I have the opportunity to walk the Pattern. Should I set

I will then go to my rooms, clean up, dress for dinner, and then show up at

talk to anyone about anything in particular?

No, not really. I am of course, polite, vivacious, and friendly to all
(BTW, is Alexander the blonde I met on the stairway so long ago, when I was
returning to Morley's room? And who is Cedric, or rather what do the two
of them look like?).

The blond you met on the stairs was Cedric, not Alexander who has brown

everyone on the Hydra: Amber web page.)

You end up sitting next to Cedric and Caine.

All righty, let's assume dinner is safely behind us now. You go to meet
with your mother at the appointed hour. I assume you're prompt this
time?

Flora's rooms -- what you can see of them -- are impeccably decorated.
There is a service of coffee or tea sitting on a table nearby, and she
offers you some as she takes a seat.

"Jasmine, dear, I think there are a few things we should discuss. What
you did this afternoon -- contradicting me in front of Morley -- was
inappropriate. I don't think you appreciate the delicacy of the
situation; you undermined my authority. Please never do that again. If
you have concerns, you may speak to me privately."

She takes a sip.

"Do you have any concerns?"

Have Iever been late to an event that Mom has requested me to be at? I
don't think so. OF course I am prompt, arriving early if that would be
appropriate.

>"Do you have any concerns?"

Stunned, I sit there for a moment. Then I say, "I apologize Mom. I
certainly didn't mean to contradict you. I was attempting to play
devil's advocate so that morley's action could be send from a different
angle. I apologize if that put you in a difficult position."

I pick up my tea cup and study the brownish liquid. "Perhaps if you
told me what is really going on and how the rest of the family feels
towoard Morley I wouldn't make such mistakes again. And I definitely do
not want to make any mistakes."

Yup. You kept Flora waiting for couple hours when she came to Reischia
to take you to Amber.

You accidentally cc'd that last message to the entire game; you might
want to watch out for that in the future. (Though I suspect most people
probably realized what happened and didn't read read it.)

Advancement:

That list is fine, if too short. You've got 30-40 experience points
coming your way, and sorcery plus another rank of warfare is only 15+9 =
24 points. You can jump all the way up to 45 total points in warfare
for 29 points total. Is there anything else you want?

Skills:

That's the right idea, but you should say a few words at least about how
you aquired the skills and your levels of experience/competance in
them.

These are pretty straight forward:

> Etiquette
> "Reading" people's body language
> Weaving

These might be elaborated on slightly, but it's not crucial.

> Riding eg. how long? is this formal horse jumping or racing or just
	  general riding?
> Falconry, Archery eg just for sport? hunting? what?

These I'd like to hear more about, unless you mean it to be primarily
formal schooling/theory, which is okay too and does sort of fit with you
background.

> Tactics (small groups) eg foot soldiers, cavalry, what?
> Strategy (large groups)
> Sailing (small boats)
> Swords
> Negotiation [realize also, that this, like many conversation skills
tends to fall in the category of role-playing/player
skill much of the time, though good stuff/knowledge will
produce GM sanity checking where possible. eg "Do you
really want to do that? It might be considered rude."]

Last conversation with Flora:

See note under negotiation above. If it helps you to abstract things
more, rather than play out the dialogue, you can do that. In a way,
it's less work for me, so I don't mind. (Though other PCs may still
want to talk in dialogue fashion.)

I get myself into a routine where I can explore the castle, talk to various
people, and get a general sense of who is what and what their duties are.

I will make myself available in case Mom needs me to do anything, as well
as try to find time to ride and practice with the sword.

I am interested in finding out what cousins are in residence and who they
are (i.e. how they are related to me). I will also make an effort to talk
with them a bit, finding out their likes and dislikes if possible.

Concentrating on your relatives at least the first couple of days, you
have Random and Vialle, the King and Queen. You don't see a whole lot
of them.

Random's son, Martin, is generally in and out of Amber on a fairly
frequent basis. On any given day, he seems to spend at least some of it
in Amber and some of it, you're not sure where. You get the impression
he's at least a little bit "in the know" about what Random is thinking,
but can't be sure on that count. He's a little bit, well, irreverant is
the best word you can think of to describe him.

Martin has a younger half brother, Nathan, who is also in and out of
shadow, but his trips are longer. He's been away since you got here,
apparently with Deirdre's daughter, Elena, who's only newly come to
Amber (found by Corwin, apparently) and has not yet walked the Pattern.

Benedict's son, Alexander, is in Amber these days, though he doesn't
seem to have any official duties. He and Martin have been switching
off watching Morley. He's cool and not very talkative, though you
gather that he's downright loquacious compared to his father, whom
you've never met. Benedict apparently doesn't spend much time in Amber.

Cedric (the blond you met on the stairs), is apparently the son of a
long dead uncle named Absalom. He made his way to Amber somehow,
seeking information about his father, only to discover he was dead.
Since his arrival, he's spent much of his time in the library,
brooding. He's quiet and sullen, but not as much so as his manservant,
Tibbet, who follows him everywhere. Cedric has his father's pattern
sword, Yaghijan, which has not been seen in Amber since before Absalom's
death.

Julian and his son Gregory spend most of their time in Arden. They
remind ou a lot of each other.

Caine is in Amber a lot these days. Keeping an eye on the Morley
situation you gather. When you talk to him, his manages to seem both
charming and faintly mocking at the same time. You gather he also has
an official position with the navy.

Gerard is also an Admiral, and has taken part of the fleet off to
Gossol.

Corwin, Bleys, and Llewella aren't in Amber at the moment, though you
gather Corwin and Bleys have both been here in the past couple months,
at least.

Fiona isn't around after dinner the first night, that you notice.

You're getting a general feel for the layout of the castle.

A tailor and his assistant's come by to measure you and get some
information for clothing the next day.

Send me up the ladder of warfare as high as I can get, without accumulating

Things like when talking to an innkeeper, what his feeling? Nervous?
Why? Or perhaps he is keeping an eye of a trio of roughnecks. Or his

Or perhaps I am talking with some noble lady and she seems nervous and

I considered it to be general riding and use of a horse on a battlefield.

Sounds like someone I ought to get to know. If he is around, I will try to

am new to Amber and want to know my cousins. I will invite him to dinner
down in town or perhaps dancing, if that kind of thing takes place in the

Nathan and Elena aren't around, as I mentioned. I'll let you know if
they turn back up in Amber.

Martin is around, and you can certainly run into him. He'll thank you
for your invitation, but say that he's a little too busy to take you up
on it right now. He will give you the names of a couple of nobles whom
you might become aquainted with if you're interested in parties in Amber
city.

You're clothes arrive in a couple or three days.

Well, let's see, I already gave you a run down of all your relatives.
There's a scattering of nobles from Amber and the Golden Circle around,
and a delegation from Gossol here about the whole incident with Morley.
That seems to be the primary thing occupying Random's time. The other
big buzz about court is you, Elena, and Cedric.

After a couple of days, your mother asks how you're settling in and when
you'd like to walk the Pattern. She also gives you a trump deck. [the
contents of which you can find off Jasmine's web page]

Finally, you hear that Nathan has turned back up in Amber.

What is said about me? <curiosity perking up!>

And what is being said about Elena and Cedric?

Is there much gossip about Morley?

"Things seem to be going fine, Mom," I say. "I still feel a bit like an
outsider, but I am learning as I go along."

"Oh yes, I want to walk the Pattern," I exclaim. "When can I do it?"

>Finally, you hear that Nathan has turned back up in Amber.

Without Elena?

Anyhow, i would like to meet him, in casual fashion, such as walking into
the room where he is at, or running into him in a hall. If I can't seem to
find him, I will send him a note saying I would like to meet him just to
get to know him.

[gossip]

It's not that they're saying a lot about you, it's that they're asking a
lot about you, Elena, Cedric, and a little bit about Morley. Basically
all the sorts of things one might inquire about a member of the royal
family who basically appears out of nowhere.

[Flora]

"When would you like to?"

[Nathan]

Without Elena, as far as you know. He's only just arrived, having
apparently trumped in.

You meet your mother and Benedict, and Flora tells you that Cedric has
asked to watch before he makes his own attempt and will be joining you
shortly. Random may also come, or send someone. Cedric shows up
momentarily, wearing his sword as well, and trailing Tibbet, as usual.
Martin shows up about ten minutes later, saying Random sent him. Flora
and Benedict both give him small disapproving looks.

The lot of you then proceed down to the Pattern room. Benedict opens
the door and you all go it. The room isn't terribly bright and it would
be down right dim if it weren't for the blue glow of the Pattern
itself. You think you can feel a vague sense of power emanating from
the glowing tracery.

Flora reminds you not to stop or step off and not to be alarmed by the
rising sparks. She tells you again where the veils are that you can
expect increased resistance from and then gives you a hug. "Are you
ready?"

I am nervous, but try to conceal it. I don't say anything, realizing that
my voice my crack. I hug my mom back and then pull away. I take a deep
breath and smile. I nod at my mother's question and turn to face the Pattern.

Benedict returns your greetings politely, if not overly warmly. Cedric
nods back and Martin gives you a faintly amused smile.

...

You step onto the Pattern and are met with a much greater sense of
power. You can feel it running through you as the sparks build around
your feet. Your awareness of the other people in the room fades as you
fight the resistance of the Pattern and push forward. You find yourself
reliving moments from your childhood -- fond memories of your parents,
especially your father, Claudia, Reischia. They are there and then
pass. It's almost as if the Pattern is fighting to somehow reduce you
to your essentials. By the time you reach the final viel, the sparks
are shooting about your shoulders and the Pattern has your full
attention. It seems like you've been at this for hours, and that you're
barely moving at all. You're exhausted, but you press on. Finally,
when you think you can't possibly take another step, the resistance
ceases and you realize you're standing at the center of the Pattern.
You're filled with a sense of clarity and the realization that you can
go anywhere you want.

I will rest for a moment, gathering my energy. Then I will look and see
who is still in the room. If anyone is there, I will wave at them and
offer a smile.

Then I will take a seat in the middle of the Pattern and decide on where to
go now. Not home, because I have been there. (OOC: Am I familiar with the
ways of moving through shadow?) If I think i can get myself home, I will
let my mind wander and think of a shadow where knights in armor, and
dragons are. I want someplace where men are men, they appreciate women,
and I can have a good time. No place overly dangerous, but someplace that
i can have a rollicking good time.

OOC: Now if shadow walking is alien to me and I need training, a Golden
Circle kingdom where I can find a shadow path back would be good.
Suggestions? perhaps the shadow where Morley got into such trouble.

You on a street not far from some docks. You can see the masts of some
tall ships beyond the buildings and smell fish nearby. It's either
midafternoon or midmorning. There are lots of people, mostly going
about their business, though some are momentarily taken aback when you
appear out of nowhere. They sound like they're speaking Thari.

Alrighty, finding a tavern is pretty easy, actually, though they're more
low class than what Jasmine is generally used to. The food is not
remarkable. Sleep is actually quite welcome; now that the excitement
has worn off a bit, you realize you're fairly drained. You wake up to
the sounds of sailors and dockworkers starting their day.

Plans for the new day?

Okay, you establish pretty quickly that you're in Gossol in the port
city of Bossis. Morley's ship is under guard in port. It's pretty
badly damaged as is the one from the royal (Gossol) navy which
apparently captured her and a merchant ship apparently used by the
pirates as part of the trap. (The later looks as though it's probably
simply going to be scrapped, having sustained an immense amount of
damage.) Most of the pirate crew are in prison in the city.

If you start asking about Morley in general, you get a number of stories
of a fairly ruthless and skilled pirate, the daughter of the priate
Harry Black (sometimes known as Black Harry). Apparently she's also
taken out a number of her most feared rivals as well as a great many
merchant ships. She is not popular here and you get a sense of
irritation at Amber for sheltering the pirate Morely Black.

Gossol is a Golden Circle country which means Amber has treaties of
protection and trade with her. If they get angry enough, they're likely
to go to war with Amber. (While they might not win, they could
certainly cause damage.)

Most people seem to think she should stand trial and likely be hung.

Gossol is a monarchy and the King is in the capital, which is not
Bossis.

I'm assuming you're attempting to uncover this information mostly by
talking to people on the streets and merchants and what not. Her ship
was captured by Admiral Perkins ship, the Intrepid. You're not
clearhe's even still currently in Bossis. (You're also not clear Random

Obviously. I am just trying to gather enough information so I can reach a
conclusion on my own. IIRC, Morley said she was set up. Yes, she was a
pirate, but she was accused of killing some one in cold blood, when she
didn't.

I have no desire to open a formal or informal dialogue with the people in
Gopssel. I am just gathering information.

So, my next step is seeing if Admiral Perkins is in Gossel. I will start
asking about the famed pirate hunter Perkins and if I could get a glimpse
of the man.

OOC: Basically, Jasmine is at loose ends. There was no one to talk to in
the castle (or at least no one that wanted to talk to her), nothing going
on, and pretty boring. After walking the Pattern, she now has the ability
to do what she wants to do. However...

One night, in the seclusion of an inn room, Jasmine will pull out her trump
cards and leaf through them. After debating internally, she will pick up
her Mom's and study it carefully, concentrating on it to see if Mom wants
to talk.

Admiral Perkins is likely still in Gossol (the Golden Circle country
you're currently in), but as best you can tell, he's not currently in
the port city of Bossis (where you are now).

You trump Flora, from your room.

"Hello, dear. Are you well?"

Sure, if Mom has nothing to say, so be it.

A few more days. I am toying with the idea of learning how to sail. And
Gossel might be the ideal place to learn.

That evening, i would like to dress inconsopicuously and see if I can find
a "sea rat" tavern, the kind of place the lowest form of seamen would
visit. Assuming i can find one, i will visit there and start talking to
people there about Morley and her reputation.

You hadn't responded to Flora's last comment, so I asked if you thought
you were done in the interests of keeping you paced with your cousins.
(Things are finally starting to move in Amber, woo-hoo!)

Moving on...

Sure, you can find a "sea rat" tavern pretty easily; it's not even too
far from where the Defiance is locked down. Even dressed
inconspicuously, you get a lot of attention for your looks (and your red
hair does stand out). You started asking about Morley Black, and a
fight breaks out pretty rapidly between a couple guys who seem to sort
of admire her chutzpah and a pair who lost friends to her marauding. A
former navyman joins the latter pair, and the tavern quickly breaks down
into a giant brawl...

Try to stay out of the way, don't get involved, and defend myself if any
come near (usually by a tankard upside the head or a chair if that doesn't
work. Whoo-ooo! Are bar fights fun! And this is my first one... :>)

If the law shows up, I will try to blend in. However, if I don't think I
will be successful, then I am outta there though, preferably by a back way.

Tell me more. The bar comes close to me?

What does the sailor look like?

I suppose it really doesn't matter, considering this is a dive. I will
smile, shake my head no and hope he takes that for an answer. if he
decides to press the issue, then I may have to get physical.

The bar isn't especially close to you, since the bulk of the fight is
near that. There are a few heavy tables and chairs about, and you're
not all that far from the back door. Several of the tables have various
bits of peoples meals and the associated dishes and silverware.

The sailor is the sort of unkept sea dog you'd expect to find in a place
like this: long hair, beard, scar...

When I say 'pass,' what I really mean is 'grab.'

Ahhh. In that case, smile prettily at him, grab his thumb and twist in

He's a little on the heavy side, but you manage, fairly handily to push
him into the general melee which promptly grabs his attention as someone
else socks him in the jaw for spoiling their aim.

An earthware tankard comes flying by and crashes into the wall not far
behind you. A number of the non participants have slipped out of the
tavern, thought the fight might be starting to wind down. Staying or
going?

Basically, I am trying to find someone who was an eyewitness or can tell me

I will concentrate on morley, and what I know of her. Then think of her

You walk through the streets of Bossis for a good hour or more, until it
finally feels "right." You seem to be on the outskirts of the city but
you see a tavern so you head in. It's a much quieter tavern than the
last, and not so seedy. There are a half dozen or so people sitting
around at tables eating quietly, mostly in ones and twos.

That's just it, I (the player) am not sure. However, Jasmine might be a
better judge of people than I am.

In the meantime, if I have to pick, let's try someone about Morley's age,
male, sitting alone.

Jasmine isn't really sure either. She's not had much experience with
pirates. Most of these people look like middle or working class.

Perhaps this will help. Looking about the room you see:

a pair of dusty men in their late 20s or early 30s, sitting in
across from each other and drinking from large steins, the remains of a
meal still sitting in front of them

a young man and a young woman sitting quietly in a corner
talking in low tones to each other and eating a light meal

a man in his late 40s, practically dressed for travelling,
just starting a plate of food and sitting across from a second plate of
food (but no person)

an extremely weathered man who is probably actually only in his
late 30s, though he looks older sitting with his back to a wall and a
good view of the room, drinking slowly

a younger man, slightly better dressed than most of the people
here, eating a hearty meal, he looks at you and smiles slightly at you
when you walk in

at the bar are a couple of lone men, plainly dressed and drink
what is likely beer

The second piece of mail with the subject "[Hydra] likely candidates"

which starts "Jasmine is standing in the doorway" should be deleted
unread if you haven't and ignored if you have. Sorry. That was meant
for someone else, but I'm sleepy and making mistakes.

Head to the bar and get a ale. Once I have it, I will turn and study the
room, and the man dewcribed above. A bit more. If he meets my eyes. i
will smile and move in his direction.

You head over to the bar and get an ale.

The solitary man who smiled at you when you came in is still looking at
you and trying to catch your eye. The man you picked out seems to be
giving you occassional wary glances.

Nervous like? Hmmm. Smile at the nervous man, putting some heat in to
it. ignore eager beaver over there, I am not interested in liaisions at
the current time.

Wait a few minutes, then stroll over ot the nervous man and say, "Good
evening. Perhaps you might help me? I am new to this fascinating town
and I see that you are attired for travelling. perhaps you might
recommend a good inn, one that is safe, but not to particular in their
customers."

My purpose here is to put him at his ease and reassure huim that I am
not a threat.

He's not so much nervous, as suspicious. He's also periodically
regarding the room, as if checking to see that everything is where he
thinks it is.

[This is tavern/inn, btw.]

After a few minutes, before you're close enough to talk, a small boy
wanders in from a side door, hands the man a note, and waits
expectantly.

Fine. Jasmine turns on the charm, "Oh, thank you." She smiles prettily
and with all the heat she can muster at the man. Thens he turns away and
heads toward the innkeeper. She tries to keep an eye on the man via a
mirror or other reflective source.

He raises an eyebrow at you as you turn up the heat on him, but you
don't sense that it indicates interest.

You start speaking with the innkeeper, who is busy running down rates
for various rooms and lengths of stay. Glancing back at the reflection
in a window, you see the man is no longer in his seat, and there is some
money next to his plate. A moment later you catch sight of him walking
towards the other side of the in, where there is a door or two, and the
stairs to the upper floor(s), where presumably the bedrooms are.

Jack colors slightly and stands up a little taller. He leads you into
the stables, trying to think of good things to say about the stables and
the inn.

You pass through the door and then a second door into a medium sized
stables. There are a half dozen horses in various stalls and two near
the the door with riders on them. One bears the man you just saw and
the one closer to the door bears a young woman who bears a striking
resemblence to Morley.

"Ah, very nice stables, Jack." Jasmine turns to her guide. "But I need to
talk to these nice people. Would you mind leaving us for a moment? I
promise I will return."

Then to the people in the stable, "So. You are very hard people to catch

The two of them ride on and don't look back. They're actually out of
sight before you quite have Caine's trump out, so you don't need to wait
before you get a contact. After a minute or two, you get an answer.

"Jasmine. What is it?"

Smile and nod. Then cut the trump contact.

Then I go back into the inn and find the innkeeper. I want to find out as
much as I can about the man that Morley was with and about Morley if she
has been around.

The innkeeper doesn't know much. He thinks the man came in with a woman
(description matching Morley) on the road from Gossol. They hadn't yet
booked a room, but then there's still plenty of time left for travelling
today.

Poking around reveals that the two hadn't been here very long before
they left again. The woman (who didn't give a name) gave one of the
stable boys a coin, but didn't say anything useful.

Do you identify Morley by name, or just by her description?

Jasmine shrugs, Can't all be clues.

She will continue looking around the tavern, talking to its patrons, etc.
trying to gather what information she can.

Then she will get a ale and ask the bartender if she could buy a horse.
(Speaking of which, did Morley and accomplice steal a horse or did they
have it when they arrived?)

You've already ordered an ale (which you should pay for ;). The

Yup, Morley and the other fellow came on horses.

Sigh, arrange to buy a horse. And pay for the ales. I am assuming here
that I have enough gold in my pocket to do so (isn't manipulating Pattern
fun?)

>Yup, Morley and the other fellow came on horses.

What do I think my chances of following Morley and her friend are?

You pay for your drinks and a horse. At this point, it's been a good
half an hour or more since Morley rode off, so with no idea where they
were heading, you don't think you have a very good chance of catching
them.

The innkeeper makes you change for you horse in Deigan pips, rather than

Jasmine frowns, "Oh really? That is what I was told. Just one moment
uncle, and I will check on that for you."

Hoepfully I can keep the trump contact going as i walk into the common

From: endeavor@mit.edu (Kate Mahoney)

You head towards the main dining room. There are a number of your
relatives sitting around the table eating desert. There is not a lot of
talking though, and the room has an air of tension. Glancing around the
room you see Random (at the head of the table), Flora, Caine, Fiona,
Julian, Gerard, Eric, Alexander, Martin, Cedric (the blonde you bumped
into on the stairs), a young man with brown hair that you don't
recognise, and Vialle. At least half the room looks at you as you enter.

Most people turn back to each other once they have registered who you
are. As you walk in Martin shoots a quick glance at his father that
seems to say "See?" and then watches you and Flora with a slightly
amused expression. Random looks slightly irritated, and Caine also
looks faintly amused. A few people nod in response to your good
evening.

Flora says to you, after you greet her, "Dinner is nearly over, dear,
but you could join us for desert."

Well, there weren't actually any empty chairs at the table, but a
servant quickly produces one for you next to your mother. Martin isn't
exactly next to you, but he's within earshot.

He shrugs, and says, "Well."

Fiona, across from your mother, says, "Have you been introduced to
everyone, Jasmine?"

-----
If this helps, here's where everyone is sitting:

	Gerard, Alexander, Flora, Cedric, ?

Random (head) Vialle (foot)

	Eric, Julian, Fiona, Caine, Martin

? is the brown haired young man you don't recognise. You're now in
between Flora and Cedric.

Gerard leaves.

Fiona gives a little shrug and a slightly amused smile, "There's
charging and there's charging, but she is, as Eric says, her mother's
daughter."

Caine smirks. Flora gives Fiona a withering look but declines to
comment. She folds her napkin and says, "Good evening all," and looks
in your direction.

"The lay of the land is an interesting question. Eric-- if that really
is Eric-- appearing suddenly does seem to have completely distracted
most people's attention from Morley's disappearance. Do you have any
idea what the child has gone off to do? If she's gone off to tour
shadow for ten or twenty years, the whole matter might be allowed to
drop."

I shrug and smile, "Well, funny you should ask. I was looking for
information on Morley in teh Golden Circle. In the process I ran into
Morley and a companion. She escaped me, even though I wasn't trying to
take her into custody."

I shrug, "Last i saw she was riding away from the city I was in. I
contacted Caine and he said that he would take care of it. He also
suggested that I return to Amber."

That's a pretty good question... Amber is still pretty new to Jasmine and
she knows next to nobody.... Any suggestions you could provide in character?

Jasmine walks slowly to her quarters thinking over the past few days.
Cloak and dagger, thieves in the night, cousins departing and uncles
arriving. She wondered if Amber was always this.... busy.

Smiling, she sees a servant in the majordomo's colors approaching. She
stepped into his way and smiled a devastating smile, "Excuse me, I was
wondering if you could help me?"

<resp>

"Yes, I was wondering, where is a good place to go dancing in the city?"

<resp>

"Ah, very good. Now how to I arrange transportation to get there and back?"

Jasmine nods her understanding, "That's sounds wonderful. Thank you.
Would you see that that happens?" Jasmine smiles again.

She resumes her walk to her rooms, then veers off to explore some of the
public hallways in the area. Might as well get familiar with my new home,
she thinks.

Okay, you can wander around trying to get a feel for the general layout
of the castle. It's pretty big, but you at least have an idea where
some of the more important things generally are. It's starting to get
late, local time. anything else for today?

Nope, I don't think so. Jasmine will call it a day, head for her quaters,
take a bath, and then crash in that wonderully soft bed that is there. She
will let Amanda, her maidservant, know that she doesn't want to be awakened
in the morning unless it is a matter of life or death.

You sleep well and wake up late--- perhaps eleven a.m. The sun is
shining brightly in your window.

You discover upon summoning Amanda that an invitation was delivered for
you an hour ago. The envelope is addressed "Lady Jasmine of Amber" from
"Melissa Burton."

Jasmine stretches, enjoying the feel of her sleepy muscles moving. Then
she look at the envelope and shrugs. She knew no "Melissa Burton," the
name wasn't even familar.

She opened the envelope and extracted the sheet of paper inside. She
unfolded it and read what was printed there.

Jasmine smiles and then pens off a thank you and acceptance note and has it
returned.

Then she gets up, goes through her morning excerises, and then goes to take
a quick bath. Then it is down to the kitchens/dining rooms for a quick lunch.

Lunch isn't a problem. You can grab something there easily enough. You
think you hear Martin pass through, but he doesn't stay ong if that was
him. What now?

<Sigh> Let's see, Jasmine will wander through the family areas of the
castle and see who is around.

After that, if she doesn't find anyone, she will go and find her mom.

"Good afternoon, mom," Jasmine smiles as she greets her mother. "I was
going into the city to shop fro a new wardrobe. Would you like to come
with me? It has been a while since we have spent some time together."

Looking around for people in the public/open areas of the castle yields
up your mother fairly rapidly. She's being shown some bolts of fabric
by some merchants or servants, but dismisses them when you come in.

"Are you looking for a new wardrobe, or an opportunity to go shopping in
Amber City? I have some excellent tailors on staff, if it's simply new
clothes you're looking for, dear. I do know a few delightful little
stores to shop in as well, and would love to show them to you."

Jasmine smiles at her mom, "Well, A little of both, Mom. I want to explore
Amber and do some shopping for new clothes. I imagine with Eric back
things might get rather exciting around here pretty fast." Jasmine watches
her mom's face for any change of expression.
