With a faculty whose areas of expertise encompass French and Francophone studies, bicultural, multicultural and media studies as well as interactive teaching technology, the French group at MIT constitutes an innovative and dynamic team. The excellence of our group starts in the classroom. This commitment to teaching guarantees that our students will have a rewarding experience learning French and studying French and Francophone related subjects at MIT.

In all our beginning and intermediate classes, our students explore culture while learning French. Beginning students quickly improve their communication skills as French is spoken from the first day of classes. Educational technologies including award-winning multimedia projects developed by our own faculty are used in many of our classes to enhance learning and to help prepare students to spend time abroad. Our more advanced students can now pursue an internship in France through the MIT-France Program. Designed in collaboration with the MIT International Studies and Technology Initiative (MISTI), the MIT-France Program offers internships in France's leading companies and research institutions to students who have satisfied our course requirements.

Together with the other language groups, the French Group also organizes some of its cultural events with the Center for Bilingual and Bicultural Studies(CBBS). Through our language, culture, literature and film courses, our close link to the MIT-France Program and the cultural events we organize, we make sure that our students are equipped to become skilled participants in today's increasingly fluid world.
