Development of interpretive skills, using literary texts (B. Brecht, S. Zweig) and contemporary media texts (film, TV broadcasts, Web materials). Discussion and exploration of cultural topics in their current social, political, and historical context via hypermedia documentaries. Further refinement of oral and written expression and expansion of communicative competence in practical everyday situations. Meets with 21F.474 when offered concurrently. Limited to 18 per section. Students who are enrolled in 21F.076J Globalization should register for 21F.474. Prereq: 21F.403, 21F.473, or permission of instructor. Coreq for 21F.474: 21F.076J.

Enrollment limited to 18 for pedagogical reasons. Preference will be given to pre-registered students, including pre-registered undergraduates who were cut from the same class the previous semester due to the enrollment cap. Please note that you have to attend the first day of class to maintain your preference level. In case of overenrollment, preference will be given in the following order: declared majors, declared minors, declared concentrators, continuing students, pre-registered students of 21F.076J, sophomores, juniors, freshmen, seniors and graduate students.
