Syllabus

Students continue to refine their speaking, reading, and writing skills through study of contemporary visual arts (images in museums, political propaganda, websites, etc.), short literary texts, and films from all corners of the Hispanic world. Develops analytical skills and vocabulary appropriate for understanding and discussing these media in their historical context. Interactive format with frequent work in small groups. Essays receive both peer and instructor review before final submission. Taught in Spanish. Enrollment limited. Prereq: 21F.704, 21F.774, or permission of instructor. Can be repeated for credit. Topic for Fall 2014: Spanish Culture through Film



Explore Spanish culture and practice the language through the study of major works of Spanish film. Filmmakers include Berlanga, Bunuel, Saura and Almodovar as well as some very recent examples of contemporary Spanish directors. This course develops analytical skills and vocabulary appropriate for understanding and discussing this media in its historical context. Students continue to refine their speaking, reading and writing skills. Interactive format with frequent work in small groups.Taught in Spanish.

Student writing and discussion exclusively in Spanish

Enrollment limited to 18 due to pedagogical reasons. Priority given to pre-registered Spanish majors, minors, and concentrators.
