Waltz lessons and dancing

Our next waltz will be Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 7:30 PM in W20-407 (not Ashdown)

For the lesson, we will be teaching Cross-Step Waltz, which is a slower waltz form that allows for a lot of creative figures and won't make you dizzy! We will go over the basic steps and learn some figures that we didn't cover last time. After the lesson, Sara will play waltz music at a variety of tempos, so you can dance a mix of rotary and cross-step waltzes.

Richard Powers (who popularized this dance form around the world) has a very informative website about cross-step, including a video, if you'd like a better idea of what we will be learning.

Free and open to the public. No partner required. If possible, please wear slightly slippery shoes that you can turn and pivot in, as that will make waltzing much, much easier.

Stay tuned to this webpage or the mailing list for updates.
