Middle of the Room

You can sort of tell that you are in the middle of a spaceous room, its high vaulted ceiling lit by plain-looking fluorescent lights. To the far north of the chamber is a strange translucent door, through which you can see glints of colored light. To the east of the room is a strange, tubelike structure, sort of an overgrown piece of macaroni. To the south of the room, attached to the wall, is a colorful panel. To the west is an ugly neon sign.

Here, in the floor, lies a round, brass plaque, like a monstrously huge, raised metal skating rink. You're far too small to be able to read it.
