The Configuration Wizard guides you through the process of configuring a virtual machine. In most cases, the wizard provides appropriate default settings for a virtual machine.
While the wizard is the tool you use to create a new virtual machine, the Configuration Editor is what you use to modify an existing configuration.
The configuration settings for a virtual machine are stored in a configuration file (.cfg). By default the wizard creates a configuration file and other data files, such as a virtual disk file (.vmdk) and a BIOS NVRAM file, in a common directory. The wizard configures the location in which these files are stored.
