Adding an Existing Virtual Disk to a Virtual Machine
To add an existing virtual disk:
- Select File > Open and open the virtual machine configuration file
(.cfg) you want to modify.
- Select Settings > Configuration Editor from the
console window.
- Click the + sign next to IDE Drives or SCSI Devices.
- Select the specific device node from the corresponding list (under IDE
Drives or SCSI Devices) for where you want to create the virtual disk.
- In the Device Type list, choose the type of disk you are adding (virtual or
raw).
- Click Choose and browse to select the disk you want to add.
- In the Mode list, choose one of the following:
- If you are connecting to a virtual machine on a Linux host and
you want to disable write caching, select the Disable write caching option.
- Click Install to add the new disk to the virtual machine, then click OK to
save your changes and close the Configuration Editor.
