The messy fight in the kitchen: Toruiql returns with news that Fiona has arranged a meeting with Bleys and Delwin in Amber and she wants backup. Discussion of the available information indicates that Bleys, Fiona, and Delwin have formed at least two teams of two and possibly even three such teams. No consensus opinion on whether or not Bleys is really being mind controlled (and by whom) is reached at all. Torquil, Felicia, Nikrowd, Keverian, Mary, and Ann all decide to take Fiona up on her offer and show up to help nab the bad guys. (Note the lack of a specific reference on "bad guys.")

All show up in Amber (in one of the dining rooms, though it later moves to the kitchens). Early action (mostly Keverian and Torquil's) is against Bleys, though Keverian and Bleys rapidly make up and together slice Brand to ribbons, when he shows up uninvited. Sand makes a cameo appearance just long enough to plant a spear in Delwin's back. Delwin's uncosncious body is passed to a waiting Katarina, who has been observing things through trump connection to Felicia. ("I backhand Delwin to make sure he's unconscious, then I check to see if he's alive.")
