Enabling a Virtual SCSI Device from a Virtual Machine

You can enable up to seven virtual SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) devices for virtual machines. SCSI support is limited to virtual hard drives, CD-ROM devices and DVD-ROM devices. SCSI devices must be compatible with BusLogic BT-958 host bus adapter.

Note: Do not use a virtual disk file created for use with IDE as a SCSI virtual disk, or vice versa. The geometry of a virtual SCSI disk device is different from the geometry of a virtual IDE device.

To configure a SCSI virtual disk for a virtual machine:

  1. Use the Configuration Wizard to create a virtual machine.
  2. At the end of the installation process, click Advanced, choose the SCSI option and select a SCSI node to use.
  3. Click Finish.

To configure a virtual SCSI CD-ROM or DVD-ROM for a virtual machine:

  1. Follow instructions to add a new virtual CD-ROM or DVD-ROM to a SCSI drive in the virtual machine.
