Activities
We build an open platform and hold many scientific and social activities for the undergraduate students, and, therefore, provide loads of opportunities for the students to indulge themselves into all kinds of marine technology that they are interested in. Our aim is to engage more and more students to focus on the scientific research and engineering related to the marine technology.
We hold annually the "Songliao - Chaori Green Boat Competition" in order to engage more people to pay attention to the green-energy-powered ship, especially those using wind and solar energy. |
During 2010 - 2011, we collaborated with Bayer (China) Co., Ltd., and together held the "2010-2011 Shanghai Jiao Tong University - Bayer Polyurethane Innovative Marine Application Competition". This contest was held to encourage the contestants to find out the new way of the use of Polyurethane in marine engineering. |
AUV "Flying Fish": "Flying Fish I" was the name of the first autonomous underwater vehicle(AUV) that our group designed and it was built entirely by undergraduates. |
"Harmony": Inspired by the "PlanetSolar", the first ship ever around world with solar energy, Qian Peng and I co-designed the "Harmony", this autonomous wind-solar-energy-powered multihull sailboat. |
