Celeste Dang, Class of 2018, Co-President
Celeste is a sophomore from Massachusetts, majoring in biology. She is interested in pursuing cancer research and drug development in the future. Over the past year, she has performed research in the Koch Institute, studying immune responses to lung tumor progression in mouse models. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano, photography, and traveling.

Elizabeth Li, Class of 2018, Faculty Liaison
Elizabeth is a sophomore majoring in biology from Nashville, Tennessee. She is excited about all things biology and plans to pursue a career in cancer research and pediatric oncology. Over the past few years, she has studied the effect of the cell adhesion molecule ALCAM on tumor cell motility and cancer metastasis as a part of the Zijlstra Lab at Vanderbilt University. She is currently studying the role of of CPS1, a rate limiting factor of the urea cycle, in tumorigenesis in the Yilmaz Lab at MIT. As faculty liaison for BUSA, Elizabeth hopes to spread her enthusiasm for biology by building support within the community, especially between students and faculty. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, piano, flute, making crafts, and weightlifting.

Emma Chaloux-Pinette, Class of 2016, Outreach Chair
Emma is a senior majoring in Biology with a minor in Brain and Cognitive Sciences. She plans to pursue a career in pediatric neurology. Emma conducts research on the interaction between Autism risk genes ALDOLASE A and SHANK3 in the Sive Lab in the Whitehead Institute. When not working on psets or in the lab, she enjoys travelling and cooking.

Jenny Halford, Class of 2016, Outreach Chair
Having lived in three countries, Jenny is thrilled to call MIT home. She is a senior majoring in Course 7- Biology and plans to pursue a career in medicine. As a part of BUSA, Jenny hopes to share her passions for science and volunteering by connecting MIT students to more service opportunities, along with increasing communication and support within the biology community. She also enjoys music, traveling, and slacklining.

Jessie Chi, Class of 2019, Freshmen Representative
Jessie is a freshman from Florida planning to major in Mathematics. She is interested in applications of mathematics to health biology and is passionate about sharing her love for biology with others. She is currently conducting research at the Broad Institute on building a predictive model with machine learning techniques to help treat metastic melanoma patients. In her free time, she enjoys watching sports and Korean dramas, dancing, sleeping, and hanging out with friends.

Krystal Lai, Class of 2017, Co-President
Krystal Lai is a junior from Southern California studying biological engineering. She loves everything about biology and is excited to explore MIT on her journey as a pre-med. Also a member of the varsity tennis team, Krystal likes to doodle beautiful pictures, cook or bake (although not as much since she moved into Maseeh), and write things about life, the universe, and everything. But mostly just life. The universe is pretty massive.

Maya Jay, Class of 2018, Undergraduate Association Liaison
Maya is a sophomore from Newton, MA studying biology with a minor in brain and cognitive sciences. She is also an active member of MIT Bhangra, DanceTroupe, and UA. When not tackling the rigor of MIT, Maya enjoys dance (if that wasn’t already obvious), exploring her home city of Boston, and biking.

Meenakshi Chakraborty, Class of 2019, Freshmen Representative
Meenakshi (Meena) Chakraborty is a freshman intending to major in Course 6-7. She has experience as a research assistant at the Koch Institute's Irvine Lab, and hopes to conduct future research related to preventing, treating and curing human disease. Apart from academics, Meena enjoys singing, playing the piano, volunteering to help senior citizens, and playing recreational sports.

Rui Song, Class of 2017, 6-7 Representative
Rui is a junior from Saskatchewan, Canada, studying Computer Science and Molecular Biology (6-7). She is excited to grow the 7 and 6-7 community as part of BUSA! Rui enjoys eating (and sometimes cooking), watching hockey and volleyball, terrible(-y great) puns and biking. She is also interested in data analytics, biotech, genetics and STEM education.

Zulikayida Maimaiti, Class of 2019, Freshmen Representative
Zuly is a freshman from Maryland planning to major in Biological Engineering and minor in economics. She is interested in pursuing research in the fields of oncology and neurobiology. Over the past two summers, she has researched in a neuroscience lab at Georgetown Medical Center and a tissue engineering lab at University of Maryland College Park. She is currently conducting research regarding extravasation in the stages of metastasis at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. In her free time, she enjoys playing violin, drawing, and exploring new places around Boston.
