Favorite eye doctors

collected by Christie

Dr. Augeri: 3 votes, below: Dr. Augeri changed her surname and she's now Dr. Landry.

Dr. Garston: 1 vote; rather panned by others

  • I have been going to Dr. Garston over at medical since I worked in the libraries. He is very good. He is also good with kids. He did an eye exam on my middle son about 18 months ago. I like him a lot.

Dr. Patti Landry: 3 votes

  • I would recommend Dr. Patti Landry. She's very professional in a low-key, no-nonsense sort of way. I discovered her after deciding I'd never go back to the in-your-face guy.
  • I got an eye exam from Patti Landry recently and it went fine. As for Garston, I don't use him any more. Not because he gets too close when he examines, but because socially he's something of a stick. Whenever I say hello to him, all he can manage is a low grunt. I get enough of that in this office.
  • Both Dr. Wittman and Dr. Augeri are very good.

Dr. Lynn Wittman: 7 votes

  • Dr. Whitman [i.e. Wittman] is great, but part-time and very busy.
  • She was really nice and helpful... so I would recommend her.
  • I'm very happy with Dr. Lynn Wittman at MIT Medical... I was very unhappy with the other doctor (the one that you mentioned in your message).
  • I've seen Lynn Wittman, and she was fine. She was good with my 8 year old son as well explaining every step.
  • I like Lynn Wittman too. She's got a great personality, and she makes lovely eye metaphors (your eye is opening like a flower, etc.). She puts the poetry in optometry!
  • Both Dr. Wittman and Dr. Augeri are very good. The one who sits next to your face is Dr. Garston, who is annoying but probably a good eye doctor too.
  • i too have seen lynn wittman and liked her very much. she puts you at ease very quickly.

Favorite dentists

Dr. Andrus

  • "I love my dentist and can recommend him without reservation... Dr. Seymour Andrus and he is located 872 Mass. Ave in Cambridge Suite 2-6 and his phone is 491-0943. He is on the faculty at Harvard and keeps up to date with changes in Dental practices and tools. He has always taken very good care of me and his work lasts and lasts. He is kind and gentle."

Dr. Forman

  • "I have a WONDERFUL dentist on Mass. Ave. just past Central. He bought the practice from the (also great) dentist whom I and some others from MIT had been going to for decades; and he takes Delta. Dread no more! Russell L. Forman DMD, 872 Mass. Ave. Suite 2-8 (that's the same floor as one or two other dentists), Cambridge 02139, phone (617) 868-5500"

Dr. Reid

  • "I have a great dentist. His name is Garnett Reid. He is at Kendall Square Dental Associates, One Kendall Square Bldg 300. 617-577-8700. He is thorough and painstaking. My standards are really REALLY high, and he exceeds them. The hygienists and other staff are good too. As long as your friend doesn't mind that he sometimes hums along to the radio while he's working...."

Dr. Zylber

  • "I hated, and avoided, going to the dentist, all my life. Until I started going to Dr. Zylber, on Pleasant St. (next to the Post Office) in Central Square. I've been going to him for 15 years and I swear, swear, swear by him -- he's kind, _very_ competent, gentle, nice. Excellent staff too."
  • "I've been going to Maurice Zylber in Central Square for years-- he's _extremely_ gentle. His phone number is 876-7900."
