Anadama bread


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Cook 2/3 cup cornmeal in
  • 2 ½ cups water, add
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 3 Tablespoons oil
  • 1/3 cup molasses - let cool to lukewarm; add
  • 2 Tablespoons yeast dissolved in
  • ½ cup warm water. Stir in
  • 6 ½ cups flour.

Knead thorougly (100 - 200 times if you like to count); let rise to double in bulk; punch down & knead some more; shape into loaves; place in oiled bread pans; let rise almost to top; then

Bake 30 min or so in 350° oven.
